My X1950XT idles at around 60, but they are know for running hot. I use ATITool to kick up the fan a little to keep it cooler.

Check into RivaTuner for fan control.

It is free. Be sure to go through the guide and you will love the results.

Other than something like this you would have to look into a third-party cooler.

Actually from an 8800gt those temps are pretty decent, they run warm because of the 1 slot cooling solution, but if you're really worried you could buy a Arctic Accelero S1 Cooler or a AKIMBO Cooler to go with it

nah it won't hinder performance....

I used RivaTuner to boost my fan speeds up to 70%, and I idle at 44C, and load is around 60-65C. When I play a game, I usually kick the fan up to 90% or more.

I leave the fan on 100% at all times with my 8800 GT, mine idles at around 43* C and under load gets to the mid-high fifties. Mine's the MSI factory OCed version.

My X1900XT idles at 45 with stock HS, and with the Accellero around 38.

Load for stock was around 65+ and with the Accellero around 42.
