no, a 4870 uses a single RV770 GPUwait the 4870 is going to be strictly dual core?
a 4870 X2 uses R700, which is a dual core RV770, but shares memory, and does crossfire in hardware (so the system sees one GPU, but there's actually two)...
a 4850 will be about $199 or so, a 4870 will be more expensive (but less than $300), a 4870 X2 will be even more expensive (but cheaper than a GTX 280)
