wait the 4870 is going to be strictly dual core?
no, a 4870 uses a single RV770 GPU
a 4870 X2 uses R700, which is a dual core RV770, but shares memory, and does crossfire in hardware (so the system sees one GPU, but there's actually two)...

a 4850 will be about $199 or so, a 4870 will be more expensive (but less than $300), a 4870 X2 will be even more expensive (but cheaper than a GTX 280)

Yeah I thought it would be at least $500...Didn't know for sure.

Looks like I will most likely get a 4870 in my new system.

ok, so has it been confirmed that the HD 4870 x2 is in fact dual-core? Cool.............but it's going to be released later right?

EDIT:

before i even get one, i need to OC my CPU higher. I know that if i do get an HD 4870 x2, i will most likely get the same performance as my card right now thx to my CPU choking it. I'll get 45nm Phenom later.
