1 SIMM of ram worth the extra $$?

Is it worth the extra 100 dollars to have a single simm of 512 megs of ram instead of having two 256 sticks?

Also, let's say I get an apple powerbook with the bare amount of ram. if I wanted to upgrade it myself, do I have to purcahse a special kind of ram? Or would any pc2700 or something make due? (I don't know what size goes in apples, was just using it as an example.)

i would say yes, it is worth it ONLY if you're gonna want to upgrade later on . . .

right now, i'm kicking myself for not spending the extra $120 for 512x1 instead of 2x256 . . . cause my comp is really struggling to keep up with the programs i wanna run . . . and i'd really like 768 or 1024megs
