8800GT vs 9600GT

now my choice narrow down to 8800GT and HD3870

The 8800GT is worth the extra cost over the 3870 imo. Also keep in mind new cards will be released at the end of this month.

yeah im looking at this one for an 8800gt Newegg.com - XFX PVT88PUHF4 GeForce 8800 GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards If they aren't going to get any lower than that then i'll buy it when i get back from vacation next week. I'd personally go for a 4870
but if not, 8800 GT > 9600 GT

in single card configurations, 8800 GT > 3870
but in crossfire/SLI, 3870's can edge out 8800 GT's

though 3870's also use a bit less power (the difference is bigger on idle), run cooler, and are quieter, but have dual slot coolers.. that might or might not prevent you from using PCI-PCI-E slots you want to use
