Replacing Hard Drive

Yea it's the Demension 3000 guy again.

I think i have trouble shooted the clicking noise from my computer to be the hard drive. I would like to replace it. Questions:

ATA-100? Is that the type of connection the hard drive uses. Is that the only type of hard drive I can get?

7200 RPM? Is that the only RPM I can get? Can I get faster if I can find it?

Dell Dimension 3000 (Celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, XP Home) Specs. Desktops Specifications.

I gathered the information about the hard drive from that web site above. I wanted to see if I could gather the info myself to be able to find the hard drive. I found about 8 of them on New egg.

You can use drives with different rpm, but you should just get the standard 7200 rpm one.

Your ATA-100 is the interface that it uses. You might see names like
EIDE/IDE/PATA/ATA they all pretty much represent the same thing.

Yes, you will want to get an IDE 7200rpm hard drive. Any IDE hard drives on NewEgg should say so in the name.
