How much are the new cards going to cause the 8800 series to drop in price?

the 8800 series trounces the 9600's... and i think the 8800gts is still the best bang for the buck out there, and the GT is no slouch..

there is only 2 9600 (9600GT and 9600GSO) against lots of 8800 series cards
i think 9600GT($120) or 9600GT SLI($240) is the best bang for the buck

im getting my 8800gts this week its been shipped, i cant wait, also the 9800gtx is the same but slightly faster then the 8800gts.

9800GTX is also an awesome overclocker

Right now im stuck on either one 8800 GTS or running 2 9600 GT's in SLI, how will price and performance come in to play here? I hear they are both good setups.

9600GT SLI is better

Yeah sorry I m not into over clocking my GPU's. So I got used to dealing with stock speeds. Good point though 30$ more for something you can do fairly easily and quickly.

Well if they come out soon the 9600gso's in SLI will outperform the 9600gt's SLI in every resolution, at every setting and would be around the same price.... :)

Only the 8800gt's run warm as heck itself and then the other G80's, but a cheap replacement for an Akimbo Cooler is really great for fixing the problem on GT's, but for the price of an 8800gt + Akimbo Cooler you could get an 8800gts 512mb g92 for the same price

Dude the 9800GTX is about 300$ and its the card everyone is drolling over, including myself. But as far as the 8800's go, they give off way too much heat, and create so much noise. So most people will more then likely pick up a 9600GT instead. While most of the 9800 cards are not too much expensive then the old 8800's. So more then likely, I m predicting that more people will buy 9600's and 9800's rather then the 8800's.

I dont know what your rambling on about, my 8800gt never breaks 60C on load, and idles at 43C. Its also silent at 50% fan speed.....Akimbo cooler ftw.

9 series is not really the 9 series, just an extended 8 series.

Judging from your sig, you dont own an 8 series card so you cant make that assumption.

8800 gt 512 sli is slightly better then 9600 gt sli. And you can find 8800 gt's for around the same price as 9600 gt's.

Oh, and Incase you guys haven't noticed. There is a 8800 gts 512 for around $169 after MIR on the egg. I still would buy that over a 9800gtx. (UNLESS YOU LIVE IN CANADA)

Agreed, my 8800 gt hasn't bumped over 50c's with the new cooler on it, and that is on load.
