so my buddy wants to build a pc, im helpin him he has around 1200 budget

so i was thinkin:
evga 780i
q6600 or q6700
4gb of something prolly ballistix
9800gtx
hdd of some sort prolly wd 640
optical
xigmatek
nzxt tempest
corsair 750 watt

anything wrong or worth changing? oh and he wants the ability to sli later on

u should save money on the board and get the 750i or even a ds3r or abit 1p35. the u have more money for a gx2 coz the 9800gtx is a waste not much better than a 8800ultra. or keep 9800gtx get the cheaper mobo and get a q9450. ram good choice. hdd id get seagate 500gb 32mb cache. cooler thermalright ultra 120 with good fan and mx-2. psu i'd get a corsair 620hx. sli is a waste of money. later down the track if u want sli just sell ur card and get a better one. more profromance less money.

this build isnt for me, i already have sli'ed 9800gtx's,

also for waiting for the new cards, hes gonna do evga step up, so np w/ that

well imo 2 degrees lower isnt worth the $30.

and for the gx2? why would i pay that much for a gx2 when i could sli 2 gtx's and get better performance? and i dont like the dual pcb card

and i told him about the 750i hes thinking about it...

OMG, the gtx is not a waste. People who have not had, nor used a 9800GTX need to STFU about it. Go with the 750i FTW from evga, an evga 9800gtx and then just stepup when the gtx280 comes out. The corsair 750tx will support SLI gtx 280 as it has 4 6+2 pin connections.

Neither one of my GTS cards would do anything past 740. And definately wouldnt do 2400 memory.
