Wow, guess this the time to make posts about HD recovery. I have a 500Gb WD HD that no longer works. When its plugged in, I can right click then properties and it shows that the data is still there. However, when I open the drive, nothing is there, I'm sure you can understand my frustration. So this brings me to my point. Can this data (mainly music, videos, pictures) be recovered? I am still under warrantee so I check our one of WD's preferred recovery partners. They are wanting $1000 to fix my HD. Are there any reliable freeware options I can possibly use? If so, how would I go about backing up 270Gb of data?? Thx.
