i had this pc for about almost 5 years now it was a hp media center .
i said it was,
because is only half now ,meaning it has some newer parts just a few.
the problem im having is wen i restart it freezes on the logo loading win xp
and wen it does it wont boot ill keep freezing i been solving this by putting in win xp cd and do a recovery, is getting tiresome ill work for a few days weeks then boom again i dont get it im using win xp 32 bit.
now i order the parts for my new pc and is on its way but i need this one to work untill that one is build
now i have few things like to know should i switch to 64 bit ? will maybe this
ill stop that issue and should i get 64 bit xp or vista on the new one ?
if u wondering what the new one ill have here is whats going to have

thanks in advance

First of all changing to a 64bit windows will unlikely solve your problem, it may even create more as there is limited driver/software for this type of operating system yet.

Second of all has the freezing just recently started for no reason? Or did you just install some new hardware which may be causing the problem?

I personally would stop with the windows recovery jobs, backup, and do a clean, fresh install of windows

If it's 5 years old and you have never done a fresh install this may be why its constantly freezing.

Another thing you could try is a CMOS refresh (google it) as it may fix some bad overclocking or BIOS settings which you may have done

its a fresh reinstall it started doing it a little over a month a go i have clean reinstalled at least 3 times since then using different harddrives
is weird its very random it could be a few days or a few weeks
im gona look into CMOS refresh see what happends

i looked that up and a lot of random stuff showed up but nothing straight forward i dont really know what im looking at

Okay what you need to do is look at the Event Viewer. Start>Run>eventvwr.msc

There look thru and see what applications are crashing. That will give us a clue as to what is causing this. Also what is some of the software you are running? What about some of the hardware.

Have you checked for driver updates and installed SP3?
