ASUS Xonar DX question

I want a sound card that is great for gaming and general use. I ALSO want to be able to use my front audio panel ports..

Is this a good card for me?

and what are some good differences between this and the new version?

p.s Ive heard of auzen prelude but 200$ is NOT something I'm looking forward to paying, so a DX is more than likely my choice.


Any input on this decision?

Personally I would get an Xfi because of the EAX thats already in most games, but if you want to stay away from Creative's crappy drivers and crappy service.. the Asus Xonar seems to be a good choice.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Xonar DX....EAX is not really an issue because Asus has it's own sort of EAX mimicry thing
