I have a Windows XP Home Edition, and only today have started having the most annoying of problems: certain programs, such as the Best Buy Digital Music Store, iTunes, and Realplay will not start. There may be others, but many, such as Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox, AIM, and Microsoft Word, start without a hitch. The only common denomenator I can think of between the ones that won't start are that they are all music programs...if that is at all relevant.
The wierd thing is that though these select programs won't start, they are still processes in the task manager. Yet I can't end these process. So, say I start iTunes three times...until I restart my computer, I have three iTunes processes running and no iTunes program popping up, taking up more of my computer than I like. And I've tried commands like tskill with the following results:
tskill rhapsody.exe
Could not find process: rhapsody.exe
And although it's apparently not a process, it's still in my task manager.
Any help with this issue would be very much appreciated
