What are the specs of the system you are building, because even if you have quad sli that power supply is overkill. If we know your specs we can suggest a power supply that will be suitable for your system,

Well, I bought the Thermaltake power supply, I was running out to the store after I got an answer and could respond, so I read the "course it will", I also got the 1000W because I may go SLI with a second 9800GX2, ha, just cause.

now then i've heard that the heatsink/fan packaged with the Q6600 isn't so nice, is that true? and if so, what recommendation do you guys have?

The packaged heatsink will suffice if you do not overclock.

Do not get that power supply. It is on the list of ones to avoid.

Edit: the Xigmatek Rifle is one of the best air coolers.

Newegg.com - XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
+ the best thermal paste
Newegg.com - Tuniq TX-2 Thermal Compound - Thermal Compound / Grease

lol, didn't know. the reviews look nice

also, when did the xigmatek become a good recommendation

and mx-2 is not the "best"
