So here's the deal: I think I broke my laptop. It's a Gateway Solo 5350 and I was running XP on it. I though it might run faster with Xubuntu installed on it, but I accidentally screwed something up with the BIOS and was never able to install it. Now, whenever I attempt to boot up my laptop, I hear three beeps and the computer crashes with a quick strip of text flashing across the screen (On which I've been able to discern the word failed so far). When I try to access my BIOS I get the same response and thus am unable to change anything. I have attempted to put the Windows XP CD in and reinstall it, but...well you know the drill by now. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

You will have to reset the CMOS by removing the battery in the laptop. This should allow you to gain access to the BIOS Back.
