Administrative tools does not open XP home

The Admin Tool in control panel does not open anymore. All other control panel items are opening fine.

when I right click on Admin Tools it does not give me an option to open , unlike other icons. It gives me an option to cut.

It was working fine a week ago.. I tried restoring the system to last week .. it still does not work..

I am wondering whether this is due to an XP update installed..

any help would be appreciated.

are u using any programs such as stylexp or anything like that? I can't think of anything else.

No.. but I did install MS-plus a while ago.

also forgot to add.. nothing seems to happen when I click on the icon. it just greys out like a hidden icon..after a few seconds..

try this:
right-click on Taskbar, left-click Properties, click Start Menu tab, click Customize, check "Display Administrative Tools" ans OK out. This will show Administrative Tools under Program in addition to the Control Panel. see if u can get to it that way.

thanks so much the first remedy worked.. from the programs menu.

I was actually accessing the tools from the windows explorer..

But it is weird that it does not work from the control panel.
