Actually in theory you want the ram as fast as it can be in comparison to the CPU. The best would be a 2:1 RAM : FSB ratio however thats quite hard to do. Most people keep it 1:1 becuase it's easiest to work with.

Why does faster RAM help with overclocking? I never really knew the answer to that and you're probably one of the best people around here to ask.
 
i think that the faster your ram is the faster your CPU can send it data and it can store it and communicate and send it back.

i guess thats what it does. if your ram is fast then things get to it faster and they get out of the CPU faster and the CPU probably can access the data faster.

Tats just my guess.
 
Even I am not exactly sure however all the tests I have seen had shown minimal but yes a an improvement with a 2 : 1 ratio.
 
not really sure on this concept.

Well the faster your ram the faster it sends information to the cpu...I'm not sure why that would help in ocing though.
