If anyone familiar with the Game Age of Conan, my friend wants me to help him build a new rig just for this game. How cheap could i go with a budget for him? I was thinking at least $1,000 due to him needing a complete build, Tower, Monitor and Mouse/Keyboard. Any advise on a cheap build that can run it at least medium setting would help.

My Son plays this game. The downloadable compressed file is 9.8 GB and it expands, wiht updates, to 31.6 gb. He uses one of my machines which runs a Phenom and dual 3850's in crossfire and he gets lag<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<I'm thinking it's a resource hog of a game! You can't go cheap with a game like this one!

To give you an idea, my build seen in my sig cost right around $1000 minus the monitor, and AoC has been running fantastic on it.

q6600 - 220
, antec 900 - 110
, 4gb crucial tracers - 120
Decent 22" - 250
7200.11 500gb - 100
pc power and cooling 610w - 110
dvd burner - 30
xfx 8800gt 256mb - 130 before mail in rebates
p35-ds3l - 90
shipping um what would you guys guess 40? (I would try and get the case at a store or ebay to offset the shipping cost for all that)

k that is 1160, you could get 2gb of ram to make it 1100, then step down the processor to e2200 as long as your willing to overclock that I my best guess. Feel free to correct me!

i guess i just needed a direction with cpu, mobo and graphics. everything else is usually preference. I was just wondering if a PC under $1,000 could handle it, but i guess not, lol. no biggie.

This system comes to $942 before mirs and should be able to run Age of Conan with high settimgs.

Yeah awesome game. puddle-jumpers build will look good on that 19". Only thing I'd change is the hard-drive. Its older and a bit slower than the latest seagates. Also ago of conan itself is massive, so with that and windows alone you're out a good chunk of that HD. the 7200.11 500GB is great bang for buck hd if you can get it.

I agree with puddle jumpers build except I recommend buying a Rosewill RP550V2-S-SL for 59.99 and spending that money plus 5 more to upgrade to this.

A slightly more powerful card and honestly the RP550 has 2 more amps on the rail's with good stable power. I owned one (still have it) and it was a nice PSU.

However also honestly I could build a PC that would run Age on Conan on medium setting for less...the build that puddle recommended with my choice of PSU and an 8800GT everything overclocked will run high.
