Monitor issue, discolouration on screen

Right well recently, probably started a month or so ago, the monitor will occasionally have a yellowish tone to it. It's more noticeable when i'm playing games, basically it looks like theres a yellow layer on the screen. It isn't a strong yellow but it is noticeable. It will be yellow for a few seconds, then normal again, yellow again, normal, etc. Sometimes it will go very yellow for one second and stay normal for a while. This doesn't happen all the time, i'd say i notice it every few days, it's harder to notice when browsing the web sometimes. It's not terrible but it does bug me a little bit when i'm playing C&C3 and it happens.

Is this a monitor issue or a GPU problem ( 7600GS)?

Well. How old is the monitor?
Have you tried another monitor to narrow it down for you?

unfortunately i don't have another monitor handy...

The monitor is rather old but it's from a good brand:

I'll be getting a 22" monitor for christmas anyway so it's not a huge issue.

Could be the cable as well. I have a few older computers I work with that use a VGA cable and all of them have no red, only blue and green. If I use myVGA adapter and DVI cable the colour is fine.
