Problem with DS3L or the HDD

My brother has a Gigabyte DS3L and a 500GB Samsung HDD. He lives on the other side of the state from me, but I thought maybe someone would come up with some ideas for him.

I worked on it a little bit when I was visiting and couldn't figure it out. In the BIOS where it lists your devices, the HDD doesn't show up. I tried 2 different hard drives and neither one showed up. I put the HDD in another computer and they worked fine.

When booting up he usually gets a disk failure. When I was fooling with it and I had two hard drives in at once I got it to a screen where it would let me select an OS on either HDD. It would then start the OS but would instantly freeze.

Also, they don't show up in the list of devices.....but under boot priority it does show the HDD.

sounds like its the board's sata controller. try running the drive in a different sata port and if that doesn't work the board is probably toasted.

I did try every SATA port. I guess RMA, I hope he still can.

Can't you always RMA ?

gigabyte repairs the boards, not send you a new/good one.
