evga 750i FTW
q6700 or q9550
TRUE
2 9800GTX (or gx2x2 if you are feeling spendy)
2x2 crucials or reapers
hard drives of your choice
case of your choice
corsair 750tx

Spend the rest on a party.

And if your buddy buys a raptor, slap him for me. The raptor is doodoo. But a velociraptor :p

Velociraptor's FTW! If you're going to buy a current 150GB raptor, ya might as well buy a 750GB Seagate 7200.11. Nearly as good of a performer.

No.

Not a 750GB. Everyone recommends this, but I don't know if many people have purchased one like I have.

It is shipped with bad firmware and which causes the cache to be 0 MB, so you instantly have to write down you S/N and call tech support. I've been pretty ****ed at Seagate for this mess. And the firmware that supposedly works (not nearly as good as on the 500 GB models) is just in BETA.

There is a reason why the 7200.11 750GB costs almost the same as the 7200.11 500GB.

WTF?! Are you kidding me? That's crap.

Oh well. Then 500GB 7200.11 FTW. I have two in my rig, couldn't be happier.

Currently the 750GB 7200.11 at 130$ is the best bang for ur buck since it gives u 5.8GB/$1

while the 500GB 7200.11 at 100$ gives u 5GB/$1

That is true, but the 500GB is a better hard drive. Right now I can't even load up COD4 or HL2 on it because it is so slow. My 4 year old Hitachi with 8 MB cache is faster than the 7200.11 with the bad firmware.

I am waiting on Seagate right now for "authorization" (lol) to download the new firmware.

Your Hitachi is faster than your 750GB HDD? Or your 500GB HDD?

I got screwed on newegg...they listed theese 400gb drives as 7200.11 32mb, and when i got em they were 7200.10 8mb. I was heated!!!

Wow the thievery on this thread! Man you guys don't think twice about stealing $1500 from friends eh? :p

If he has that much money just buy him the $3000 computer. Obviously there's not going to be a huge difference between them but it still does matter to some.
