Lol, youve got to be kidding me. An oc'd 9600gt is not equal to a stock 8800gts, even an oc'd 8800gt isnt, and its more poweful than a 9600gt.

two oc'd 9600gt's, thats a different story though.

Even though this is 2.84 ghz i had a stock run that was higher then this gts run. (this isn't my latest score btw, hasn't been updated yet... i broke 14k)
12,426 | Mordred | Q6600 Stock | 8800GTS 512 @ 670/972 | XP 32bit ORB

One example, i know... does not apply for all.

9600gt not 8800gt...

w/e rican...my 9600gt is running at

gpu clock:800
Shader clock 1625
mem clock:1000

and the only thing i have played with is the gpu clock...

Yeah well right now my 8800gt is running at

300mhz core
750mhz shader
450mhz mem

It was hot this weekend and we don't have ac so I figured why turn on the space heater :p

Dont get butt hurt, yeah the clocks are high, but you still have a 9600gt.

less shaders = less performance, regardless of what your clocks are. Nice oc though, id say thats 8800gt performance right there.

highest i could get mine without artifacts is 675/875/1687, temps were good though.

That sucks dude..central ac ftw!!! Why dont you get a window unit though? Those suckers can really cool a room down...

and yes....i lived 5 years up noth with no ac...its horrible in the summers. one room is cold, the rest of the house hot as heck.

thats why i said it's as close as it can be to 8800gts being a 9600gt...since the chips are difference this will never be exactly the same as an 8800gts....but its close enough.

Can't wait for a 9900gts hehe.

Huh? 8800gt is g92. No 9600gt, no matter how highly oc'd, can beat an 8800gt...come close but not beat.

9600GT is just slightly behind, they are just about 15% slower than 8800GT

Thats true

But also more pixel fill rate = better performance, and higher memory bandwidth = better performance

9600GT at stock already have higher pixel fill-rate because it have 16 ROPs like 8800GT but clocked at higher speed (650MHz). If you overclock 9600GT to higher speed such as 750 or 800MHz, then 9600GT would have much higher pixel fill rate than 8800GT.

Remember that the low ROPs and memory bandwidth are putting G92 down, and those are one of the reason why G92 can't outperform 8800GTX and 8800Ultra which have 24 ROPs and much higher memory bandwidth. So, I think pixel fill rate and memory bandwidth make more difference than shaders, for the G92-based GPU's.
