8800GTS on 1920x1200

Hey all,

I just gave my old 19" Samsung TFT to the kids for their PC, and I've basically decided on the new monitor, the new S-PVA panel 22" Lenovo L220x monitor (native 1920x1200 res). I'm trying to not break the bank on the graphics card, but I know my current 7900 GS is clearly not enough. I think one of the new G92 8800 GTS models (512Mb) should do the trick, but I wonder whether it will fall short, forcing me to upgrade too soon.

Any ideas?

Its one of the best cards out right now, but at 1920x1200 its going to struggle if you plan on playing all games maxed out at that resolution

22" is native 1680x1050, not 19XX

but anyway a 8800 model card will be able to handle it like the other guy said, unless you take the graphics up to an extreme

Not really, check it out for yourself right here. I've seen it live and it's even better than the Dell S-IPS displays.

there are some that run at 1920x1200, like the one I used at my friend's house

Wow, didn't know that. I thought each size had it's "native" res then you could just change it around if wanted/needed

I play 1900x1200 maxed out and it does fine. 60-40fps 4x AA on. Obviously not on crysis which isn't even worth playing.
