This is what I'm looking at.

Newegg.com - Tuniq IC-SYMI-BK Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Newegg.com - CHAINTECH GSE88GT GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

I'm building the computer entirely from scratch except for speakers/keyboard/mouse/monitor. My most important questions since this is my first time would be is everything compatible and are there any better choices without going over $990. I don't plan on overclocking since I don't know what I'm doing, and I also just noticed the Q6600 went out of stock again so I may need an alternative processor ><. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Looks good to me.

A tip about the processor, if you want the Q6600 it'd be best to buy elsewhere like : FRYS.com or something. Newegg has a higher price and keeps running out of stock recently.

Ok board, but with the money saved from other things I'll tell you, you can buy a EP35-DS3R instead

Newegg.com - CHAINTECH GSE88GT GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Brand doesn't matter just get the cheapest 8800gt, unless you want to step up to something else within 90 days

wow overkill, you just need a Corsair 550vx and you're set

Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors

Pioneer make some of the best DVD-RW drives in the business, but they are also the most expensive, see if you can save a bit cash here

I bolded my suggestions in my quote

you're also missing a CPU Cooler, so get an Arctic Freezer Pro 7, because you may overclock in the future and go against what you said up in the OP, its good if you want to go up to 3.0ghz without a voltage change or anything

Thanks for the suggestions vernong and Prototype. I'd always been told not to skimp on the power supply so I went with the 850W, but if the 550 is sufficient then thats great news.

Before I order I'll repost to make sure I understood everything.

Same tower as before, I don't really have much personal preference in a tower other than it's big enough to fit everything in it, so I don't want to spend too much extra.

Thanks again for the help. I'm hoping to order either tonight or tomorrow.

Wow didn't see it was $30 thats a good deal then, but its IDE D:

but he really has no need for a Xigmatek because he's not going to overclock, maybe we could convince him to do 3.0ghz by making him increase his FSB to 333mhz, that's enough for all games out now

and he doesn't need to mess with anything else + the AF7 would be enough
