Question about registering my eVGA 9800GTX

I acquired a deeply discounted 9800GTX from a private source (not a store of any kind and I don't have a receipt, obviously) and I was wondering if it is possible to register it for step-up/warranty through eVGA. Has anyone here bought a brand new card from a private store or small computer shop and been able to register it for step up? How do they verify the receipt information? Do they do it when you actually attempt to step up?

I don't think you'll be able to get any kind of step up/warranty without a receipt.

You can try registering it with eVGA but I honestly don't know what kind of documentation, if any, they require.

if the serials number is still stickered onto the car (should be only one sticker, as it also voids warranty)

I don't see why they wouldn't without a serial.
