Thats true, no point in getting a gts or even a gt, as it will be bottlenecked byt the cpu, i dont think you would see any extra performance over an 8000gs or 9600gt.

The card is still holding him back though, he does have a dual core so he would see improvement with an 8800gs or higher. Even p4 rigs see improvement, just the 3dmarks arent high.

Pentium D ain't that bad. Performance is like a a64x2 3600+ stock?

Just go for the cheapest HD 3850 or 8800GS or even 9600GT you can find.

sorry the gts is more expensive then the 9800gtx here in canada. didnt realise

Lol, tell me about it. I've been cruising the classifieds for one around $200 and finally got someone to agree to a new BFG 8800gts for $200 and turns out i didn't update craigslist to Toronto and the guy was in San Fransisco! doh!

Well the CPU is a problem and will be getting a C2d before the year's over
i game at 1600X1050 i play COD4 and hope to play crysis
also i would like to know if i would see an improvement if i got a nice C2D or a nice GFX card

Upgrading from that 8500gt which in all honesty is absolute rubbish will yield some amazing performance in the newer games that are out.

Upgrading to a core 2 you should also see a fairly nice improvement, however it won't be as night as day as the gfx upgrade.

not even close man, but HD3850 256mb or 8800gs 384mb is fine

Pentium D's got beaten by X2 3xxx and x2 4xxx, kind of what Intel is doing to AMD right now, because they just weren't efficient at all, clock per clock they were slower than the Athlon's, plus Netburst (don't get me started)
