This question is for you heat sink fanatics. :)
If I were to take a heat sink from a COMPAQ PRESARIO 5000, Motherboard nVidia, and drill holes in the aluminum. Would I get better performance from the processor? Or would the holes provide a better atmosphere as far as temperature is concerned? :)

Can you please be more specific? An possible include a picture of the heatsink in question. Normally heat sinks work by having a larger physical area to dissipate heat an with the help of the fan pull cool air onto the heatsink an reducing that area could possibly lead to higher temps if not a totally buggered heat sink.

Why would drilling holes in the heatsink give you more performance? You are taking away surface area for the heatsink to contact the CPU and possibly cause system failure.

I could see if you were adding heat pipes or something. But not to just drill holes in it.
