I am going to build a new first desktop. I need help on the parts to buy.

Main:

1. Processor
2. Card Reader
3. Power Supply
4. Motherboard
5. Memory
6. Case
7. Monitor
8. Hard Drive
9. Optical Drive
10. Mouse
11. Keyboard
12. Thermal Compound/Grease
13. Cable Tie
12. Heatsink or Water Cool (If water cool, give me the parts that I need or kit)

It Is Gonna Be Used For: Gaming, Benchmarking, Overclock, Everyday Usage, School Work. Maybe Gonna Leave Computer 24/7 For Hosting. Programming & Photoshop when I learn.

Budget: $2000 and less. The lower the better.

Optional (This items are not included in the budget):

1. Printer
2. Router
3. UPS
4. Speakers
5. External Hard Drive
6. USB Flash Drive

Any missing parts, please inform me.

*Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista
*Hardware will be bought on May (after price drop).

Some of my current suggestions:
Thermal Compound/Grease: ARCTIC COOLING MX-2
Keyboard: Logitech G15
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
DVD Burner: ASUS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner LightScribe SATA

some other ppl can help u with the other parts

q6700
2gb crucial ram
corsair 520hx
Case is personal preference
226bw 2ms (22")
seagate 500gb 7200.11 32mb cache
g5 or g9 mouse
merc stealth keyboard
mx-2 thermal paste
just pick up a pack of cable ties...there is nothing special about them
i would just say a true h/s but if you want to spend the money on water cooling i suggest you talk to aspire (the water cooling guru here)

Thanks
Processor: Core 2 Quad Q6700 or Q9450 (After Price Drop in April 20)? I think the Q6700 cz it will be around $100 less than the Q9450 after the price drop and it overclocks more. The Q9450 uses less power and it is cooler but I heard there was a wall for overclocking.

Hard Drive: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
Worth to add 25$ to upgrade to a 750GB?

GPUs: Don't know if I should go with one single card or SLI/Crosfire? People say that one-single card is enough.

I also don't wanna go with DDR3 memory cz the extra cost is not worth it.

This questions will help me pick most of the parts.

This is what I have for now. Total: 200

Card Reader: SABRENT 65-in-1 Internal
DVD Burner: ASUS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner LightScribe SATA
Keyboard: Logitech G15 Wired
Mouse: Logitech G5 Laser
Thermal Compound/Grease: ARCTIC COOLING MX-2

i would say stick with the q6700, go with one card... get a 9800gtx. Who said anything about ddr3? Those hdd's have the same spec but just one has 250 more gb so if you need more space then get that one.

p5k mobo.

1. Q6600, E8400 or Q9450
2. dunno
3. Corsair 620w
4. 680i, 750i
5. Anything that matches the max spec of the mobo
6. Antec 900
7. Samsung 22" or 24"
8. Seagate or Maxtor 500gb 32mb cache SATAII
9. Asus, Liteon SATA
10. Razer DeathAdder
11. Razer Lycosa
12. AS5 or MX2
13. huh
12. Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
13. GRAPHICS CARD - 9600GT, 8800GTS, 9800GTX

Just some ideas :)

1...the q9450 oc's like ****...and a q6700 would be his best choice.
3...A 520hx would do fine...there is no need to get a 620hx
4...why would he get an nvidea chipset when he isn't goin sli?Stick with a p5k
5...That does not help him
6...meh the antec 900 is ok...bad wire managment
12...mx-2 is a bit better the as5
if he wants to oc he'll need something better the an af7...either a true or if he wants to go water cooling.

finally someone new who know's a little bit of what they're talking about..

crysiscore, i take it you've done some research before hand, and thank you very much for that.

as far as stuff goes, i would say an e8400 if you want game performance, but a quad if you want some sort of futureproofness in your rig.

and probably a 9800gtx or just a 8800gts, cause the 9800gtx is a super oc'd version of the 8800gts. or even a 8800gtx if you want.

best out of all the other ones I've seen, I agree completely :D

you forgot a mobo though, how about eVGA 750i FTW or just a good x38 chipset, also forgot the Video Card, how about an 8800gts g92 (maybe a 9800gtx, maybe the possibility of a 9800gx2)

EDIT: Forgot something, you said in May, by then there should be the 9900series, and the 9900gtx is supposedly going to beat the 9800gx2 (or it could be nVidia bragging and exaggerating, which is definitely a high chance because they do brag and/or exaggerate a lot) but the 9 series is worth considering

1. Q6600, E8400 or Q9450 I want a quad cz i wont be upgrading in 1-2 years.
2. dunno
3. Corsair 620w
4. 680i, 750i how about 780i?
5. Anything that matches the max spec of the mobo
6. Antec 900 Heard that the NZXT Tempest is the same as the 900 but better
7. Samsung 22" or 24" I think they discontinue the Samsung 226BW
8. Seagate or Maxtor 500gb 32mb cache SATAII im going with the Seagate 7200.11 750GB because it is 5.77GB/$1 while the 500GB is 4.76GB/$1
9. Asus, Liteon SATA
10. Razer DeathAdder 11. Razer Lycosa how about the G5 and G15?
12. AS5 or MX2 going with mx-2 cheap and good results
13. huh
12. Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
13. GRAPHICS CARD - 9600GT, 8800GTS, 9800GTX yeah i forgot about the gpu.

Just some ideas :)

4...why would he get an nvidea chipset when he isn't goin sli?Stick with a p5k i might sli since it is cheaper getting 2 cards than 1 card with 2 GPU.
5...That does not help him
6...meh the antec 900 is ok...bad wire managment

I think im going with 8800GTS, 9600GT, or 8800GT if I SLI or not. Not sure if I should go with 3870X2 or 9800GX2 if I get 1 card. I aint getting the 9800GTX because i think im going to step up when the 9900 comes out

EDIT: Luke what do u mean the Q9450 overclock like crazy?
