Hello Everyone!!

I've got this Gigabyte Motherboard GA-7VAXP Ultra
with a 256MB DDR 400 PC3200 Ram

I want to upgrade the Rams to the max.

What should I put in, I have 3 slots in there.

This is what the website is mentioning put I didn't get the idea..

Memory:

1. Type : DDR400(PC3200)*/ DDR333 (PC2700) / DDR266 (PC2100) / DDR200 (PC1600) -184pin
2. Max capacity : Up to 3GB by 3 DIMM slots
3. DDR400(PC3200) max. up to 2 DIMM slots.

1. DDR400 recommended memory modules are listed in user's manual & GIGABYTE website

Can someone explain the points 2 & 3 for me.

Really appreciate it..

GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - GA-7VAXP Ultra

Basically its just telling you that each slot will only support a max of 1gb per stick. So if you put in 2x1 or 3x1. I would just go with whatever the cheapest 2x1 kit you can find that is ddr400.

Thanks veedubfreak for passing by my post.

I already know your point (after all I could think a bit!!) but what do they mean by max up to 2 dimm slots ddr400.

Still confused with this point and hence I want to install Vista on the machine so I think going for a 3 Gb would be the best choice for me.

I can only assume that it means if you want to use the entire three gigs of memory, you may use anything slower than DDR400.

If you want to use the highest DDR400, you may only use two slots.

So what it boils down to is this: Do you want 3 gigs of slower memory or do you want 2 gigs of faster memory?

Personally, I have never seen that stipulation before.
