when i adjust my brightness to the max it goes dark for bottom half of the screen and then in about 0.1 second there is no light but in a bright room i can see that i have my desktop or windows open which is very hard to see because there is no light produced from the monitor. this only happens if my monitor is at around 90% of the brightness. my monitor is quite old and it is 15 inch nec lcd1550v which you can't find it anymore since they stop making it. and also this monitor is around 7 years old. but i get these problem alot and it seems like the best setting is around 50% brightness which is a bit of annoying for me but i can still see the screen properly.

EDIT: oh yeah and also this is a lcd monitor though

looks like dying monitor...or dying light source...in any event, cheaper to buy a new one these days then fiddle with it inside :D

that's a good time to have a monitor, and just about right for it to die
