I buildt a new PC recently with XP Pro. I am using a Abit AN9 X32 and AMD 64 X2 6400.
I didn't have a SP2 disk, when I did the install I did not have to load SATA controller drivers. After I upgraded to SP2 and ran all the updates I could see the rest of the drive.
Questions...
1. Even after all the updates I see the drive as a total of 300 GB instead of 320 GB, is that normal? I know that the way the manufacturer calculates GB is different but even at 1000 MB a gig it should be higher I would think.
2. I installed HD Tach to test HDD speed and after a few quick tests my 120 GB IDE seems to have a average read of about 45 mb/s while the SATA is showing average read of about 65-70 mb/s. Is that about right, I don't really knwo exactly what to look for I just want to make sure the drive is running full speed and there is not some kind of driver problem.
