Microsoft Office locked

A friend of mine just gave me a call and was telling me that all Microsoft Office programs seem to be locked. She can't really interact with them and she gets a message telling her that the program is locked. I know that would happen if she had a trial version of MSO but I'm not sure if she does and neither does she (or her parents, they're all computer illiterate). The computer is only 3 or 4 months old apparently, so if it was a trial version it should have run out after about 60 days right? Anyway, any help in the matter would be appreciated.

The software was a trial only. That is why it is locked. They trial is for only 3 months. So after that time the software locks until you purchase a serial for it.
