Now I'm on an extremely tight budget here.

The plan at the moment is for the following:

E6550
2gb Kingston DDR2-800
9600GT (Hopefully, if I can afford it)
HDD, monitor etc from my old PC.

Now, what I really need help with, is the motherboard. What is the cheapest motherboard I can get that isn't going to fall apart on me? Also, the CPU. Is that the CPU I should go for? Can I save money and get another one with similar performance (maybe slightly worse) for cheaper?

All advice much appreciated.

GA-P35-DS3L all solid is a great choice for about $90 usd

go with a e4600 for slightly less performance at a better price and OC it

or the e4500 which will save you about $45

Cheers for that.. I think I'll grab the E4500.

One last question - What about the power supply? I just want something that once again, will run what it needs to run without falling apart - nothing fancy.

No stay with the E6550 with me and be friends

4500 is a bit slower and the E6550 can get to 3.5ghz (i have mine on 3ghz)

Though if you must save money you could go for E2*** series and overclock it hard, or like gruff said just go with the 4500

no rosewills, you dont want to skimp on a powersupply, its the most important part of the pc

that rosewill is 88% positive review(4-5 eggs)
its a good PSU for a low budget system

if u can get a corsair 450 for same price tho that be the way to go
