I think yall are misreading this. From what i gather, all of their chipsets from here out will have an onboard video for hybrid SLI and power savings. Think about it. Those 3 GTX cards you have running up your power bill while you are surfing porn on the internet will be able to be completely turned off to save power and just use the on board video.

this is probably it...they will just have an extra gpu built right in as a backup...slightly increasing cost of the mobo but saving you energy and prolonging the life of your system

YA, just think about how much juice that GTX or Ultra is sucking down at idle while you are surfing pron. For those people who leave their machine on 24/7 this will make a huge difference in their power bill. It's also a way to get people to buy an nvidia chipset AND nvidia video card.

sli drivers are going to get so much more complicated, is there currently any sli board with an onboard gpu out right now?i dont think so.

"EVERYONE" turns off speedstep? I have all of my power savings stuff enabled on my board.

Most people at XS keep it off while overclocking, and then turn it back on when they've found the area they want to clock in, I think Nosboost does that too? I used to do that with my X2 3600+ (Cool n' Quiet) and for my e4300 (Speedstep)

Re: This just in- Nvidia will no longer make discrete chipsets. Only on-board video!!

i tried using speedstep but i found it made my system really unstable. I like the idea that Nvidia is trying to reduce power consumption, but personally i would find it annoying to have to manually power up my cards before i want to play a game, or do anything else that my onboard GPU couldnt handle.

My comp boots fast enough, i turn it off to save energy. This is a nice idea and all... but i'm really not excited about it.
