I'm using a Toshiba Tecra A4 laptop, however there isn't a /d/ drive. There's a disk space that I can open up and put disks into, but in the main directory there's no /d/ volume and I get an I/O error whenever I try to do something involving reading or burning a disk. Does anyone know where I can get a D drive? X_X

go to start>run and type diskmgmt.msc then enter. check that the disc drive is there and that it has a drive letter assigned. if not, right click and assign one.

There's no disc drive there. I have HDDRECOVERY and my C drive, but no D. I'm pretty sure that HDDRECOVERY is just a backup, but just in case I right-clicked and the "assign" thingy was grayed out.

If the bios detects the drive, then open the task manager and have it check for new hardware. But it sounds to me like the drive might be bad.
