Couple Questions Before Ordering My New Computer!!

Yeh, the wording was a little off, but the Total was surprisingly $1000.43 or something like that. I guess I will just get the 780i and 1 9600GT. But no one has answered my question yet, why can't you run 3 9600GT's in Tri-SLi when the XFX 780i supports it? Can anyone let me know please, thanks.
John

it doesn't because nVidia didn't make the extra SLI port on the Geforce 9600gt, Tri-SLI is supported by 8800Ultra, GTX and the 9800gx2 (currently)

so if you're only getting a 9600gt, you really don't need a 780i (unless you're getting a Yorkfield or a Wolfdale right now)

Ahhh that sucks. Why don't they make an extra port for all their high end cards. The 3 cards you listed would cost wayyy too much. I guess I could get another board that supports 2 cards in SLi. Does Asus Striker and Maximus Formula support dual SLi? Also, I'm getting the Q6600, so no Yorkfield or Wolfdale. Should I get the 45nm Quad core? Would it be worth it, I don't remember, but there was a new 45nm Tech quad that came out, it was OEM for $299. Is it worth the extra $100?
John

The Asus Striker and Maximus Formula cost the same if not more than the XFX and EVGA 780i. So I guess I will stick with that, or just go back and get the DS3L and 8800GTS G92. Hmm...

no the new 45nm that just came out isnt worth it.
the q6600 is still one of the best buys and yes the asus striker and maximus support sli.

I edited it above, they are about the same exact price as the 780i, so I will just get those. But now knowing that I can't do Tri-Sli with the 9600GT, I guess I am not as interested in paying out that Extra $250. I think a normal 8800GTS G92 would be fine for me and a DS3L. And If I need to upgrade later down the road, I can always get 2 8800GTX's or Ultra's and get a 780i Mobo.

Yeh, and then be broke for 8 months lol.

I have a question, if I get a DS3L instead of 780i, I will save $150 and if I get 1 8800GTS G92 instead of 2 9600GT's, I will save $50. So that is $200 cheaper for me, but if I get 1 9600GT instead of 2, I will save $145 and be paying only $55 out of my pocket for a 780i and 9600GT. But my question is, will that be as fast as a DS3L with 8800GTS G92? Will I be able to OC it and have it around the same performance as an 8800GTS G92? Let me know before I order. If so, I'll just do that, so later down the road, I can add another card for Dual-SLi.
John

the ds3l and gts will beat the 780 and a single 9600gt
i got the exact same setup...except that my mobo has a few major changes...but its like almost identical.

if u get the 780, you will be able to go sli later if u wanna so taht maybe a better idea.
and the 9600gt works reallly good in sli so u cud go ffor the 780i and one 9600 for now.
