Hi there guys!

Its a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop.
512mb ram 80gb hdd etc etc

when i turn it on it i hear the fan start, the cd drive makes a noise as if trying to boot but the screen stays black. I have tested the screen...all ok. Occassionally i can get the bios screen on (like once in a hundred boots).

I recieved an error message about memory. I read other forums that suggested i used 1 x 256mb ram instead of two. this was no luck either.

Please help.

Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who helps me.

Maybe try taking the Motherboard battery out and tap it with some metal to reset it.

Put it back in and boot up :)

That's if you can get to it without taking the case completely apart (which can be quite task...). Remember, it's in a laptop. And I know that some companies (seen a few Toshibas like this) solder the CMOS battery in place, so you'd have to desolder it/resolder it back together =\.
