Gigabyte Mobo problems

SO yeah my freind just ordered a new motherbord and video card from newegg.com it was a saphire at radeon 9600XT and a Gigabyte nforce 2 ultra 400-L bord this is the problem the bord was workign fine the psb settingfs were a little off , changed the switch seting on the bord everything was workign fine then al of a sudden it kept restarting then it started restarting and giving this seriies of beeps then shutting off now what could this be? working fine 1 min then not the next cpu fan faliure? memory? anny sugestions if u need more deatils just ask

must be overheating issue.
did your friend put thermalpaste on the cpu?

yeah it had it on it already but it kindda smeared

It is okay if it was smeared... As long as there is paste on the heatsink, everything should be ok (should not be too thin).
