Should i go with Amd Athlon X2 5000 for my friend or a E2200. I find it hard to believe that a 2.2ghz Pentium Dual Core is as good as a 2.6ghz X2....

If there the same then ill get the E2200 for upgrade options. :)
PS: Its going with a 9600GT.

It depends on what you are doing there. For a strictly gaming system most will jump at a Core 2 model. When going for the current build here I moved out of an AMD 2.2ghz single core into the 6000+ X2 3ghz model. About time AMD broke the 3ghz barrier.

Even with AMD models the lower models always oc better since all models are on the same basic die. I've suspected for a long time they simply step things up for the faster models resulting in a locked or almost locked multiplier.

I was a little puzzled at that one since I've never heard of any that were specific to one cpu alone. Generally you lower the memory timings as well as the multiplier to gradually raise one or the other as far as it will go followed by rasing the other until you see the most stable setting.
