there is no point on going to ddr3 right now because u dont need to use it its an option, next year when nahelem comes out its going to be ddr3 only and u will have to buy it ul have no choice, and even then im betting ddr3 will still be expensive, and probably by the time ddr3 becomes a nessacity to upgrade there will be better models. No point at all in going ddr3 right now. 790i=fail!

790i... wtf are you talking about.. 790i is probably the best nvidia chipset out there... i'd like to see any other nvidia chipset do 600+ fsb on the wolfdale... not happening, and its doing 500 on quad cores... if u really think 790i is fail... then i guess x38 and x48 are all failures too...

and 200 dollars for 2 gigs of ddr3... well i'm not complaining.. why? because back in s939 days 1 gig of my ddr500 was about 100 bucks per gig... so no complaints here.. everyones gotten spoiled.. computer parts used to cost so much more for good stuff... 7900gtx's for 500 dollars... 2 gb for 200, 3800 x2 for 300... fx57's for 1200!!!!

ya but the fact that they are all ddr3 boards is what makes it = fail the chipset is probably great no doubt about it, but if it only supports ddr3 then its not to great because no one will use them. i say teh same thign will happen to x48 they wont sell to well because of the ddr3 only capability, and the x38 boards that are ddr3 so far not many have been sold, does anyone on our forum even use ddr3? are any of you even willing to spend 300$ for a descent set or 180$ for a crap set? i know im not, if they ever release a ddr2 790i board then it will do well. if not 790i will be a failure.

price drop happened? agreed with you Mad-overclocker-man

you guys really shouldn't complain, because a lot of you early adopters might have paid around that for your DDR2 kits

EDIT: Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

CHEAP!

ya i payed 150$ back in the socket 939 days for 1.5gb of ram and ike 300$ for a amd 4000+ fastest single core chip besides the fx series, i did notice tho that mother boards are about the only thing that never really droped but then again there resonably priced imo. maximus formula at 250$ was a very very satisfactory buy to me.
