Best buy for a A+ cert class?

I'm taking an A+ certification class and applying for a few student services I'm going to ask them to buy me a lap top on the basis that the A+ exam is 21% about laptops. Just wondering what the best one to ask them for would be something not crazy expensive but something thats a consumer standard that I would run into working as an IT.

I'd go with a Toshiba if you think they'll actually buy you a laptop. Popular brand, good quality, not too expensive. Also, Toshiba doesn't normally supply service manuals for their notebooks so if you know your way around a few models that can be a big boost.

Ask who to buy you a laptop? Your school? Probably won't happen.

If you want something for work and education, you will want something durable. I would suggest a business-line HP or a Lenovo ThinkPad.
