Sony VaioPCG-6J1M win't shutdown / restarts

Machine has just been restored, and when asked to shutdown, it restarts.

I've googled, and have had no luck so far.

Has anyone got any ideas?

I've already use 'My Vaio' to update the machine.

I've applied XP SP3

No joy...

Restore it again. SP3 is a Beta applicaiton and would not help you out.

did it act right before the restore?

Prior to the restore, the laptop had virus', malaware, droppers, etc, and restarted instead of rebooting.

I restored the machine again last night, and it continues to reboot instead of shutting down.

Go to the Virus area and make sure that there are no viruses on there and all that other jazz. If there was a virus on the machine it can still affect Restored data.

updating the bios now
