Connect a headphone to component audio cable from your soundcard to the receivers audio in inputs. It's what I do and the quality is great, and it is true 5.1.

I am under the impression that all the rca jacks on the back of the subwoofer just underneath the heatsink are outputs and not inputs. All he needs is the main mini jack coming to a left and a right rca plug.
