17" monitor problems

Hi, my dad has a 17" samsung lcd monitor, and suddenly while he was afk and came back it said 'out of range optimum 1280x1024 60hz..blah'

and i tried rebooting, but it had this out of range message constantly

during reboot, even during safemode, during everything, 1024x768, 800x600, its just constant 'out of range...'

any suggestions?

hi, thanks but it wont even work on safe mode, which the article says to boot in,
