Hey,

So I just bought this laptop and it has an AMD Turion TL-64 X2 2.2Ghz 64-Bit processor in it. But, the Windows Vista version that came with the laptop is 32-bit. Shouldn't the OS be 64 bit???

Not necessarily. A 64bit OS is mainly to address larger file sizes, and more than 3.5GB of memory. 32bit works just fine on 64bit processors.

both AMD and Intel's mainstream processors operate in 32 and 64 bit modes so it's not particularly important whether you use a 32 or 64 bit operating system unless you have other requirements (like b1gapl alluded to). of course if you have a true 64 bit only processor like the Itanium then you need a 64 bit OS.

and if you don't know what itanium cpu's are then you probably don't need them or need to know about them :D

also i have no idea what they are, and if you're interested in finding out more go onto google and search it :D

and if you want you can use 64 bit vista.
