Does anyone elses Q6600 Run idle at 45-48 C I have a Zalman 9700NT and it barely keeps this thing cool. Ive installed it 3 seperate times, putting the thermal greese as a one horizontal line, thinking i was doing it wrong, im still getting the same temps. Am i going to have to water cool this thing? FYI its a GO stepping Q6600 and this is supposed to be cooler than the b3 version i don't even want to know what temps it would run at. this is rediculous because no matter what i do i can't get these temps to go down, any suggestions...

First of all, how cool do you expect to get it to?

Really if you are that concerned just get some water cooling.

give it some time temps usually go down a bit when they cure

i only say cause this fan is supposed to run around 38-40 idle, if its running at 48 thats a 10 degree difference

get a TRUE and lap the cpu and the TRUE, and you should be good. ask veedub. He loves his
