So I just had a PC custom built for a friend. We brought it home, installed the OS and everythings great, except for the sound....

its an EVGA 780i SLI board with 2 9600GT's, after trying to install the drivers for the PCI Xfi sound card, it says there is no Sound Hardware available for those drivers...

On board audio is disabled.

I tried downloading the drivers from the Creative website...

Heres the info I get when I try to run the drivers install program....

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please insure that this product is properly installed before continuing. Setup will now exit."

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Have you tried reseating the pci card? Or trying a different PCI Slot?

turn off computer first...

What does device manager say?
Control Panel>administrative tools>Computer managment>device manager.
Check if the sound card shows up, if any odd indicators or errors.

Its XP pro....

I cant really move the sound card for a couple of reasons..

1) Itll void the warranty if I crack the case...
2) the 780 Board only has 2 PCI slots, and the tech put the sound card between the SLI vid cards. The second PCI slot is not very accessible without some major shifting around inside there.

In device manager, only Legacy audio codecs show as being installed, but no actual sound card is shown. Strange.

Im sorta at a loss...

ya ya. lol

I just wanted to get it going now.

Im assuming they tested all the hardware before they released it....actually, i know they did, because I work there in sales.

So, does anyone know if this is a Creative issue?
