I am getting ready to build a new pc and see the XP pro is rated higher at newegg than the 64bit version. I have no clue what the advantage to 64 bit would be, any thoughts.

it recognizes more ram...

dont listen to the people on newegg, they dont know what they are talking about.

I am not sure any other advantages, someone does though I am sure.

XP 64 is not the best way to go if your into gaming and I've read a lot of reviews that it's buggy at best. Vista 64 is more stable but it's Vista and I wouldn't buy Vista for another year or so.

64 is faster with everything that works on it. it just have compatibilities issues with some stuff

well when i had vista ult 64bit...i had a horrible experience..
so many incompatible stuff.
crysis 64bit was really choppy.
Im happy with xp 32bit...no worries

the only good thing is that it recongises more ram.

Apart from that, there is even less support for WinXp64 than there is for Windows Vista 64.

yeah i heard about that.

Welll i know if i put 4gb ram in my pc now it will only recognize it as 3.5, BUT, will it actually utilize all 4 gigs? if so, then i will stick with 32 bit and go 4 gig...or maybe just 3.
