i've heard of problems using vista and xp on the same system and was wondering if there were any catches to installing xpmc32bit and xppro64 on separate partitions?

installing new hdd and exploring options....

Your best (and safest) bet is to use two hard drives. One dedicated to one operating system. And one dedicated to the other. Then in order to see things correctly (i.e. Drive C: is correct for both operating systems) you should use a boot program like the likes of XOSL which will effectively trick your PC into thinking that whichever OS you boot to is the C: drive.

There's my two cents.
