New E8400 clock reads 2.0GHz....

I don't understand why it's reading 2.0GHz. I'm very new with intel if anyone could help that'd be great! The BIOS says it's 3.0Ghz... did superpi 1M in 14 seconds :)
 
it isnt that. how old is your mobo?
update with new bios. my old 650i couldnt boot with anything other than a 6x multi either. check that first.

It isn't that? The change in multiplier is from 8x to 6x. Please consider before posting...
 
actually from 9x to 6x.

and how am I wrong? without a bios update, the board might not be able to recognize the new chip. so it boots at a lower multi. that is what my board did. first thing I checked was speedstep, but it wasnt on.
 
Sorry. I suck at math. But it's definitely EIST.

@Poster: Run SuperPI and screenshot cpu-z during the superpi.
 
ahh. the speedstep team wins. :D

I guess I keep hanging on to the idea that people will actually read, and check that....
