The 9600gt vs. 8800gt

Apparently the 9800gtx is just going to be a beefed up 8800gt.

There isn't going to be any new architecture most likely just some beefed up memory and improved clock speeds.

If thats true then im a bit let down. Hopefully the 9800gts will be a good buy.

im still gonna say the 3870 for $180 is probably the best deal right now

agreed I only believe that TomsHardware review, seems the most realistic and unbiased, if I remember correctly it said the only games where the hd3870 got edged out by the 9600gt were: STALKER and Age of Empires III

Does this Card take the Decoding Process off of the CPU's load?

And in age of empires III the 8800gt 256 came out in second place, right under the 8800gt 512. Its an older game, though.

There still is. But it's too much memory for the GT's memory interface to handle effectively.

I thought only Palit had those

but in some situations that 1gb reduced performance because of the 256bit Interface capping it
