Harddrive Related Question

Hey guys,

Just a quick question as I've been out of the computer hardware loop for a bit but I just wanted to confim if my motherboard says its SATA 3.0GB/s compatible this means its okay to run with a SATA II hard drive right?

I've got an ASUS P5KC and I just want to make sure it's compatible with a SATA II hard drive before I purchase one.

Yes, it will work. The speed is 3 Gbit/s

one more question,

do sata drives need both a cable connecting it to the mobo (ie: ide cable) and a power source? Or just one cable for both?

It also needs the power cable. If your PSU doesn't have one, there is a molex to SATA power included in the retail box.
